Oregon Latino Health Coalition (OLHC) is seeking a Full-Time Tobacco Prevention Health Educator. This position is responsible for developing culturally and linguistically specific education materials and content for a statewide prevention campaign targeting Oregon’s Latino/a/x community. This will include coordinating stakeholder engagement and input and overseeing the development of a branded education campaign by performing the following duties.
Founded in 2004, OLHC is the only health policy advocacy organization in Oregon dedicated to eliminating Latina and Latino health disparities. Today, with a growing staff we operate three principal programs: Policy Advocacy, Leadership Development and OHP Outreach and Enrollment.

Qualifications:
- This position requires a bachelor’s degree or minimum of 3 years’ experience with demonstrated knowledge of marketing, advertising, public health field or communications related field.
- Clear understanding of health disparities faced by Latino community members in Oregon.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish and English) verbal, listening and written communication skills, and an ability to build effective relationships with diverse allies and constituents in both languages.
- Excellent personal management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Demonstrate strong background in communications and curriculum development
- Ability to think strategically and plan programs and campaigns.
- Ability to travel throughout the State, required car, valid registration, insurance and driver’s license.
- Must be willing to accommodate community-based scheduling needs. ( i.e. meetings held in the evening and on weekends off-site)
- Successful completion of civil, criminal and/or motor vehicle background checks.
Essential Duties:
- Reports on and plans tobacco prevention initiatives.
- Develops and implements a Latinx tobacco prevention statewide educational campaign which can include curriculum development and other activities.
- Develops health promotion content for websites, flyers, handouts, and Public Service Announcements.
- Develops yearly tobacco prevention and other public health prevention communication strategies to help increase public knowledge of health related risks and solutions.
- Develops educational curriculum to address Latino-focused tobacco prevention in the community.
- Manages external contracts, such as the communications marketing firm to support the development of the campaign.
- Develops and conducts workshops and trainings, and tailors information to specific community groups in the Latinx community.
- Develops and conducts external Latinx focus groups to identify tobacco-related messaging, barriers, and needs.
- Develops, organizes, prepares, and distributes information, educational materials, and training opportunities.
- Participates in tobacco prevention policy making and policy implementation discussions at the regional and statewide levels.
- Develops and disseminates culturally and linguistically specific information to communities on tobacco prevention, cessation, and quitting resources.
- Builds effective cross-sector partnerships to influence change and collaboration with diverse partners.
- Leverages community resources and partnerships to make a meaningful impact on the use of tobacco among young Latinos/as/x.
- Identifies and researches the connection between behavioral health and lack of mental health services, which leads to tobacco use as a coping strategy for unaddressed mental health issues.
- Supports grant proposals, reports, and correspondence for funders and is responsible for their timely submission.
COMPENSATION:
Annual Salary of $50,000
