Oregon Latino Health Coalition (OLHC) is seeking a Community Health Worker. This role focuses on community outreach, education, and support to increase access to health coverage through the Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace (OHIM). The position will be responsible for representing OLHC at events, building relationships with local organizations, and leads culturally relevant health education sessions to help community members understand their coverage options. It involves providing bilingual (English/Spanish) assistance with Marketplace applications, renewals, plan selection, and referrals to community clinics when needed. The role also includes creating accessible and culturally appropriate outreach materials, coordinating enrollment events, documenting activities for reporting, and staying up to date on Marketplace policies. Additionally, the position supports overall community health by addressing social determinants of health, attending community meetings, and collaborating with team members to ensure effective and respectful service delivery.

Oregon Latino Health Coalition (OLHC) has been advancing health equity for Oregon’s growing Latino community since 2004. Our mission is to advance the health of Latinos through policy, advocacy, and prevention. Our vision is that Latinos in Oregon achieve optimal health and wellness. OLHC strategies integrate best practices for coalition building, policy advancement, and community outreach and education.
The Lazos Comunitarios Program is powered by a dedicated team of Community Health Workers (CHWs) who provide culturally responsive outreach and one-on-one support to help individuals access and navigate the healthcare system, and connect with social services that address the root causes of health disparities. CHWs facilitate Charlas Comunitarias, trusted conversations that bring health education and prevention to the Latino/e community. These gatherings help to surface and respond to unmet community needs and create space to discuss topics such as Oregon Health Plan Benefits, Emergency Preparedness, and Behavioral and Mental Health.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of experience in human services, healthcare, social services, or the non-profit sector experience with demonstrated knowledge of working with the Latino community. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be used to satisfy these requirements.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and automobile liability coverage or access to an insured vehicle. Certification as a Community Health Worker is preferred but not required.
- This position requires frequent (51-75% of the position) travel related to the job duties above. Travel will primarily consist of day trips.
Essential Duties:
- Represents OLHC at community events to raise awareness about the Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace (OHIM) and promotes access to health coverage.
- Builds relationships with local organizations, schools, businesses, and faith-based groups to share health insurance information and connects with community members.
- Leads culturally relevant health education sessions (Charlas Comunitarias) to help individuals better understand coverage options.
- Provides clear, accurate information about Marketplace eligibility, enrollment, and available financial assistance.
- Supports clients in understanding their health coverage options.
- Delivers one-on-one assistance with Marketplace applications, renewals, and plan selection in person, by phone, or virtually.
- Refers clients to community clinics or health centers when Marketplace coverage is not a viable option.
- Maintains confidentiality and provides services in a respectful, client-centered manner.
- Creates bilingual content for social media to promote OHIM programs and enrollment periods.
- Assists in planning and hosting enrollment-focused events such as open office hours and educational presentations during the Open Enrollment period.
- Ensures promotional materials and announcements are accessible and culturally appropriate.
- Documents outreach and enrollment activities accurately for internal reporting and grant compliance.
- Provides bilingual services in English and Spanish.
- Coordinates with OLHC’s Lazos Comunitarios Program to ensure consistent and effective service delivery.
- Participates in required trainings and stays up to date on Marketplace policies, application processes, and culturally responsive practices.
- Communicates the progress on all tasks and relays any urgent information in a timely manner to the Manager.
- Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
- Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
- Adheres to the Oregon Latino Health Coalition policies and procedures.
- Advises the community on improving overall health, including mental and physical well-being and addressing social determinants of health.
- Attends community meetings or health fairs to understand community issues or to build relationships with community members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION: This is a limited duration part-time position (20 hours per week) with a pay rate of $21.00 per hour.
