Oregon Health Plan Expansion, Outreach & Enrollment
Oregon Health Plan (OHP) is Oregon’s Medicaid program*. In 2018, Senate Bill 558 (SB 558), the “Cover All Kids” bill took effect. This landmark legislation opened OHP to thousands more children younger than 19, regardless of immigration status. *There are additional health care programs within OHP including the Citizen Alien Waived Emergent Medical (CAWEM) and temporary OHP coverage in prenatal care expansion for pregnant women (CAWEM Plus).
Oregon Health Plan (OHP) Outreach & Enrollment Program
Because OHP was newly open to more immigrant youth, there was a need for targeted, community-based outreach. To support the successful implementation of Cover All Kids (SB 558), OLHC, a certified OHP Assister organization, is partnered with the State of Oregon to provide culturally and linguistically responsive OHP outreach, enrollment and system navigation services to Latinx immigrant communities in Clackamas and Multnomah counties. This program is based on the promotora (or community health worker) model.
